Three Historical Figures;

Three Women Composers;

One Recital Experience

“History is written by the victors”.

But what if we could center the narratives of those who weren’t historically in power? What if we could resist the patriarchal lens of history by centering the stories of women in a new engaging, way?

Enter Lost Narratives, a new voice recital that intends to do just that. With newly commissioned song cycles by three women composers, we are seeking to create new works that center three real life figures.

Who is Lost Narratives About?

Julie D’Aubigny, a bisexual duelist; Mary Shelley, a prolific horror writer; Artemisia Gentileschi, a sexual abuse survivor/revolutionary Baroque painter, are the three extraordinary women at the center of a new recital series that celebrate the unheard narratives and voices of generations past and present.

Three young composers will premiere works in this new concert
